Mermaid alert!

Something completely different from me today...
Usually; I'm well-known for my funny animal cards or some kind of snarky cards...well, a few flower cards here or there... and perhaps an altered book or something like that... But my little niece is going to start school in September, and in Germany, there's the tradition to give children a "Schultuete" on their very first day at school - a large cardstock cornet filled with sweets and little gifts and with a richly decorated outside. My niece asked me to create a mermaid-themed Schultuete, and though this is TOTALLLY out of my comfort zone, this is what I started with today...
The copics I used are:
  • BV29, B99, B39, B37 and B95 for the hair
  • BG72, BG05, BG02, BG00, G00 and Y11 for the fish tail
  • YR23, YR31, Y13 and Y11 for the scallop
  • R20, R00, E00, E000 and BG70 for the skin
And of course I use several Wink of Stella brush pens for all the sparkle.

And though this is not my usual style, I have to admit I love the result...

Now it's time to decorate the Schultuete... I'll show you Pictures of the finished project!

Yappy Birthday

Hi and good morning!

I hope you all had a great weekend, even when the weather wasn't summery at all, at least here in Northern Germany... It's my turn on the Cards und More Shop Blog today with this little project.
Perhaps I wanted to escape the rainy wheather with this card with its blue sky and little white clouds. And I had to use a dog on this card - dogs always make me happy.

I started with the cloudy sky which I created by sponging Ranger Distress ink Salty Ocean through the stencil Dutch Doobadoo Mask Art Clouds 2 onto white cardstock. Then I die-cut it with the My Favorite Things Die-namics Cross-Stitch Rectangle Stax and cut a slider channel into it. I always keep the piece I cut out for the channel and stick it later behind the front panel - I like that better than the plain white card base peeking through the slider channel.

Then I stamped the cute little dog from the Penny Black buddy & duck stamp set and the gifts from the Jane's Doodles Mr. & Mrs. Claus stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, cut them out and colored the images with markers. Isn't that little dog just the cutest?

Then I mounted the dog onto a slider piece and put it into the slider channel, stamped the sentiment from the My Favorite Things stamp set Four-Legged Friends onto a white card base, mounted the whole cloudy rectangle with foam tape onto the card base and added the gifts. For the final touch I added the new Nuvo Drops onto the gifts. Can you see the difference between the Crystal Drops (I used Crystal Drops Caribbean Ocean), which dry with a glossy finish, and the Jewel Drops (I chose Jewel Drops Pale Periwinkle), which dry translucent? They are soooo beautiful!

Here you can see the dog sliding down the card to open his birthday presents!

Have a great week!

For my prehistoric friend

Recently, a very dear stamping friend turned 50. I wanted to create a very special card for her, so I decided to make a box card. And I wanted it to be a bit funny, so the Your Next Stamp Dino-Mite! set was just perfect. That's what I came up with:

The dinos are colored with these copic markers:
  • V12,V15,V17
  • B23, B45
  • G43,G82

Aren't these dinos just the cutest? And here's a little video of the card!

Hi and welcome,

I hope you all had a great wekend!

Today I want to show you a card that is playing with a lot of contrasts - black, white accents and a lot of color. I therefore used bleaching, a very old technique, but still one of my favorites.

I got the Waffle Flower Enveloper Hello stamp set by a dear friend for my birthday, and I absolutely wanted to use it today. First, I stamped several images side by side with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto white cardstock. I masked the girl's face, then sponged the whole image with mowed lawn Distress ink. Then I fussy-cut the image.
For the background I sponged white cardstock with Ranger distress inks mowed lawn, squeezed lemonade, picked raspberry and salty ocean. First I sponged through the Dutch Doobadoo Stencil Fabric, thenI removed the stencil and sponged with the same colors again. I added some more images of the stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. It looked like ths:

With simple household bleach I then bleached the images - be careful when working with bleach, you should only do this in well-ventilated rooms, and don't you get anything onto your skin or into your eyes! Nevertheless, the effect of bleach is kind of magic!

Then I colored the bleached images with markers and added accents with a white gelly pen. Finally, I stamped the words "Hi" and "Happy Mail". I glued the main image onto the background, then everything onto black cardstock and onto a white card.
Here's a close-up of the finished card:

It's kind of a cheer-up card, I think.
I hope I could make your Monday a bit happier with this, and perhaps you got inspired to play with bleach and white accents, too!

Wishing you a wonderful week!
